WiCS Awarded NCWIT Student Seed Fund Grant Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

     We are proud to announce that NCWIT (National Center for Women and Information Technology) has selected the University of Pittsburgh's Women in Computer Science (WiCS) group to receive a 2015 NCWIT Student Seed Fund award sponsored by Symantec.  WiCS has been awarded $1,000 to support She Innovates, Pitt's first all-women's hackathon.  WiCS is partnering with the Department of Computer Science, Pitt's Society of Women Engineers (SWE), and the Innovation Institute to coordinate the event.  The NCWit Student Seed Fund has awarded over $73,000 to 100 student-run programs with funds to recruit, retain, and support women in computing.

     This award is given to student-run programs that promote increased participation of women in computing and IT programs at universities that are members of the NCIT Academic Alliance.  Congratulations to WICS!
